ZimDrive Privacy Policy

Who we are
ZimDrive is a ride-hailing service operated by ViralZim, Harare, Zimbabwe. Contact: support@zimdrive.viralzim.com.
Information we collect
- Account details — your name, phone number and a password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text).
- Location — your device location while you use the app, to show you on the map, match you with nearby drivers, and track active trips. We do not track location in the background when you are not using the app.
- Trip details — pickup and destination points, fares offered and agreed, trip status, ratings and in-trip chat messages between rider and driver.
- Driver verification photos — drivers upload a photo of themselves and of their vehicle. These are shown to riders before a trip for safety.
- Payment records — driver wallet top-up amounts and EcoCash references. ZimDrive is cash/EcoCash based: we never collect or store bank card numbers.
How we use it
- To connect riders and drivers and operate trips.
- To show driver identity and vehicle photos to riders for safety.
- To operate the driver wallet (top-ups and per-trip commission).
- To prevent fraud and enforce our terms (e.g. suspending abusive accounts).
Sharing
- Your first name, rating and (for drivers) photos, vehicle details and live position are shared with the person on the other side of your trip.
- Your phone number is shared with your matched rider/driver so you can call each other about the trip.
- Place search uses OpenStreetMap services (Nominatim, Photon); only the text you search and approximate map area are sent — never your identity.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Storage & security
- Data is stored on our own server and transferred only over HTTPS (encrypted).
- Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions use signed tokens.
Your choices
- You can decline location permission — you can still set your pickup by moving the map pin.
- You can request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting support@zimdrive.viralzim.com from your registered number.
Children
ZimDrive is not directed at children under 18. Do not use the service if you are under 18.

We may update this policy; the latest version is always at zimdrive.viralzim.com/privacy.
